| | Things are different in Japan than they are in America, obviously. Buying a bus ticket is one of those ways. I looked on the internet and found myself a night bus from Okazaki to Tokyo for US$40. Not bad. It will be my first night bus experience. I figure that it cannot possibly be worse than being inside an airplane. The seats have to be at least business class quality. Time will tell.
I depart at 12:10am, so I would like to leave my apartment around 11:20pm so there is no chance that I will miss it. Then I guess I will be messing around on my DS, praying the rosary, and just looking outside the window until I fall asleep. I sure hope that I do not oversleep my stop. Do they have a wake-up service inside the bus? Again, time will tell.
I booked the one-way ticket via the internet. But to pay for it, I can either go to an ATM or a convenience store. That's definitely new for me. Luckily I live less than 2 minutes away from a FamilyMart. I went there, typed my info into the kiosk, got a receipt, and took that to the register to pay. And then I was given a boarding pass of sorts. Cool.
I plan to return to Okazaki via train on Monday during the day. Because I will be passing through a couple of cities that I would like to visit (Shizuoka and Hamamatsu), I will be making pit stops there. This trip won't be nearly as cool as the Hokkaido trip would have been, but it will still be neat. This may be the only chance I get to see Shizuoka and Hamamatsu.
